What the Bible Says About Dating
Whatever your life circumstances or your intentions, the best outcome is likely to depend on your perspective and objectives for dating. It would be best to have some guidelines and boundaries going into any dating relationship to ensure you have the best chance of success. As you enter any dating relationship, the first step should always be to evaluate your intentions and ensure that your dating goals align within the relationship. The Bible doesn’t specifically give us guidelines about dating, but one of the closest things you might find to it is a verse found in the Book of Proverbs 31:30. It says, "Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised." This is obviously speaking about a woman who has understood the importance of having a relationship with God. But it could just as easily be describing a man. The writer, in essence, is saying that the outward things that tend to attract us to one another aren’t necessarily the most important thing. A person whose heart is attuned to God is on the right track, and that’s worth making a note of.
